I’ve heard “You’re going to get frustrated.” “You’re going to have projects that don’t have errors that don’t make sense.”
”Walk away and go back to it.”
”Just keep at it. You’ll get it!”
Even though I am a newbie at all this tech stuff, I’ve found these to be true.
I heard about a different web hosting platform on a podcast and the person using it made it sound AMAZING. It was one of the hardest platforms I have ever used, and I haven’t used THAT many, but damn did I struggle.
As a beginner, I can say that the options to upgrade really were shiny gems to me. Sure, let me drop $300 to be able to edit as I want. But I couldn’t figure out what the hell I was doing. I should have learned this from my photography business- bigger, shinier, newer isn’t always better. TRY the free options, see how you like them before upgrading. Make sure the platform, service, products, whatever, are working WITH and FOR you.
If you have the latest and greatest and most upgraded-est and can’t use it. Why are you digging yourself into a hole of frustration?!
Do yourself a favor and take a step back, look at the bigger picture and start small. Start with one step. Become a pro at that first step.
You‘ve got this. You’ll get frustrated, but out of that frustration can come persistence and out of that, comes knowledge. My dad always said that the smartest people don’t know all the answers, but they know where to look for them. Think outside the box. Chase your dreams. And try. If you don’t try, you’ll never know.
